Internships Accepted for Credit

All undergrad students in Journalism are required to complete a 3-hour internship before graduation. Internships are structured, supervised, short-term educational training programs that provide practical experiences in career settings. This allow interns to apply knowledge gained through coursework to professional settings. Internships are supervised by the School's internship director and an on-the-job supervisor, who is an expert in the field and capable of providing proper guidance.

Internships Facilitated

We only facilitate the 3-hour, for-credit internship as well as two practicum courses that students can take as electives.

Experiential and/or Immersion Programs for Credit

Students gain experience through the required 3-hour internship, two elective practicum courses, Auburn's student media outlets and work via their classes with professional news outlets (JRNL) and sports organizations (JRSP). For example, JRSP students have worked with Auburn Athletics' War Eagle Productions, contributing to programing for ESPN and the SEC networks. JRNL students worked with the Associated Press collecting and verifying results for the 2024 U.S. General Election.

Online Options

We offer online courses in Journalism. These classes are offered each fall, spring and summer semesters. No degree can be earned entirely online.

Study-Abroad Options

Journalism (JRNL/JRSP) offers Study Abroad programs. The summer 2024 sports production program (JRSP) was in Paris and London just prior to the Olympics. The upcoming summer 2025 JRNL program to London focuses on global media, culture & society.
