Mission Statement

The School of Media & Journalism provides students with an education that enables them to gather, organize, synthesize and communicate information professionally in a democratic, multicultural society. By stressing critical and creative thinking and providing access to multiple platforms of communication, we prepare students with the professional standards required to perform today's jobs and the versatility to assume leadership in meeting tomorrow's challenges.

Technology/Equipment/Facilities

Student Newspaper Lab, Delta Digital News Lab, ASU-TV Station, Red Wolf Radio Station, KASU NPR Station. 4 computer labs (15-18 Macs). TV studio with LED lighting, HD cameras & control room. 3 audio production labs. Checkout room: Cannon C100, Cannon SL1, Cannon XA30, Nikon D800, LED light kits, digital recorders, tripods, OSMO gimbals, mics, podcasting kits & mobile media kits.

Internships Accepted for Credit

An internships for 3 credits is required of all multimedia journalism graduates. Internships for Creative Media Production students are strongly encouraged.

Internships Facilitated

An internship instructor works with students, professional organizations and the university's career center to help students find internships.

Experiential and/or Immersion Programs for Credit

Students are required to complete three 1-credit news practicum experiences where they apply their journalism skills in student operated media such as The Herald newspaper, Delta Digital News Service, Red Wolf Radio and ASU-TV News.

Online Options

Creative Media Production program is offered online. Masters in Media Management is offered online exclusively.

Study-Abroad Options

Study Abroad offered for London/Paris, Scotland, Tokyo.
