Internships Accepted for Credit
The school offers MEJO 393, Journalism and Media Internship during the fall and spring semesters, as well as during the summer session. In this 1-hour pass/fail course, students arrange their own internship and must complete at least 120 hours of work at that internship. The course fulfills the university’s experiential education requirement and also typically satisfies any employer requirement that a student receive credit for an internship. The course may be repeated up to three times.
Internships Facilitated
The school does not directly facilitate internships. Our two full-time career services professionals work with students on their search for internships and coordinate on-campus recruiting, alumni information sessions and other activities. The school does not have an internship requirement for graduation. All UNC Hussman students receive an email digest with internship and job opportunities in North Carolina and throughout the U.S.
Experiential and/or Immersion Programs for Credit
There are a range of courses that are experiential in nature and which offer students’ academic credit, including Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Campaigns, Social Media Marketing, Crisis Communications, Washington Experience, Art Direction in Advertising, International Projects, Advanced Documentary Storytelling, Community Journalism, News Lab, Media Hub and the FashionMash Workroom courses.
