Mission Statement
MISSION: The Department of Communication & Journalism prepares students for successful professional, personal, and civic lives by providing theoretically grounded academic and experiential learning in communication studies, organizational communication, integrated strategic communication, and journalism. We affirm the key role of these disciplines in creating and maintaining an informed and engaged democratic citizenry and creating and maintaining effective relationships. VISION: The Department of Communication & Journalism will educate students through innovative curricula and instruction enhanced by faculty scholarly and creative activity; meaningful opportunities to apply emerging knowledge and skills; campus and community relationships that enhance student learning; and dedication to the importance of equity, diversity and inclusivity in the success of individual students and the larger society. Technology/Equipment/Facilities
The department has three dedicated labs for students in the accredited sequences including a broadcast radio/broadcast suite and labs for multimedia journalism production, multimedia design courses, visual communication and photography. We also have multimedia equipment available for student check-out to complete assignments.
