Internships Facilitated

Students are encouraged to participate in internships (paid and unpaid) at any point in their college careers upon agreement with the internship site mentor. Students who take an academic capstone course that involves an internship–or enroll in a three-hour internship course –must have taken the capstone course prerequisites, have enough hours to be a junior and have the instructor’s permission.

Experiential and/or Immersion Programs for Credit

Students must complete a formal internship and a portfolio before they graduate. At the culmination of an internship, students turn in a portfolio, which is evaluated by his or her supervisor. We use this information to continually update and improve our courses. It is also useful for job placement advice. This information is included annually in our SACs/SLOPE annual assessment reports. The department continues to target nonprofit agencies that benefit at-risk communities.

Online Options

The online MA is designed to meet the needs of working professionals. The first two courses offered are Theory of Mass Communication and Seminar in Mass Communication. Data Analytics & Visualization and Ad & PR Leadership.

Study-Abroad Options

Our faculty pioneered and lead the Baylor in Budapest program. And our students benefit greatly from the extended JPRNM curriculum in Budapest and the interdisciplinary experiences of Baylor's other study abroad programs.
